The game doesn't waste your time with a long-winded backstory. You're there for two reasons: to reclaim a mountain of stolen treasure and to pull those poor hostages out of harm's way. It’s a game of pure focus. You’ll find yourself squinting at the screen, waiting for the slightest movement on the crow's nest, trying to keep your cool while the music ramps up and the enemies start appearing faster than you can blink.
How to Play
If you’ve played any light-gun style games before, you’ll feel right at home here, but the nautical theme adds its own flavor. You’re essentially clearing the deck wave by wave, and the difficulty curve hits pretty quickly.
- Pick Your Targets: Pirates will emerge from hatches, hide behind masts, or lean out from the ship’s railings. You need to drop them before they get a chance to fire their flintlocks or throw bombs at you.
- Don't Hit the Hostages: This is where the real challenge lies. The pirates aren't above using human shields. Beautiful hostages will frequently pop up right in the middle of a firefight. If you accidentally clip one, your score takes a massive hit, and your run could end early.
- Score Multipliers: To get on the leaderboard, you can’t just be fast; you have to be accurate. Chaining together hits without missing or hitting civilians is the only way to rack up the big numbers.
- The Reload Rhythm: You’ve only got a few shots before your gun runs dry. The most common way to lose is getting caught with an empty chamber right when a pirate boss appears. You have to find those tiny windows of silence to top off your ammo.
Controls
The controls are designed to stay out of the way of the action. Whether you’re using a mouse or a touchscreen, it’s all about precision.
- Aim and Fire: Left-click (on desktop) or Tap (on mobile) directly on an enemy to shoot. The hitboxes are pretty fair, but you do need to be precise.
- Reloading: When you run out of bullets, Click/Tap the ammo icon at the bottom of the screen to reload. I’d recommend reloading whenever there's a brief pause in the action, even if you still have a couple of shots left.
